Q. I make music sets not only with eJay software, may I become the eJay community member, too?
A. You may become a full member of our community provided you don't upload songs created (to an extent) with a software product other than eJay. Our charts comprise eJay songs, so including any other types would create an unfair competition environment. That is why all the uploaded songs should be created using eJay, or using eJay and other software product.
Q. What songs may I upload?
A. You may upload songs you have created with eJay software on your own. You may not upload other persons' songs as well as sets created with other software products.
Q. I don’t know which genre is okay for my song.
A. Upload a song and specify a genre you think to be the most suitable for it, or, ask for advice at our user forum, please.
Q. My songs are rarely commented and rated.
A. You should try to pay attention to other musicians and DJs. The more you comment and listen to others' songs, the more attention you attract. As a result, you can find a friend, a fan, or even find a reviewer.
Q. For how long are my songs stored?
A. For now, the possible number of uploaded songs is limited. The tracks are stored as long as your account is active. If your account remains inactive for more that 50 days, all your files will be deleted automatically.
| Creating Songs | To add a song to this artist, go ahead and click on the CREATE SONG button in the User Menu on the left of the screen. You will now see a new form come up on your right that has A LOT of information in it. The only REQUIRED field is the Song Name - the rest of the fields could be filled in at a later date, or left blank, but then what type of song would that be? Let's go ahead and fill in the fields so we will have something to show on our Output HTML. Fill in each of the fields as you go along until you reach the "Song Files" section.
The "Song Files" section is the part of the song form where you will upload the song files you want to link to this song. You can choose a HIFI song file, a LOFI song file and a song IMAGE to link to this song.
Click on the "Browse" button one at a time for each of the UPLOAD HIFI SONG FILE, the UPLOAD LOFI SONG FILE and the UPLOAD IMAGE FILE fields and select a file from your hard drive to upload. For song files, you will want to choose either MP3, WMA or OGG files, and for your song image files, you will want to choose either a GIF, JPG or PNG file.
When you are done filling out the form, press the "add new song" button. If you are on a SLOW dial-up link it may take as much as 1-5 minutes for the form to upload the song and image files from your hard drive to the ejay-music.com web site, so please be patient and do not interrupt the transfer. Shortly you should see a SUCCESS message appear. At this point you have created your first song! Click on the "Click Here to Refresh Your View" link, and you screen will be refreshed. You will now see that in the SONGS button, where there used to be 2 zeros (0 0) you will now see a 1 and a zero (1 0) - these 2 numbers indicate the NUMBER OF VISIBLE songs and the NUMBER OF HIDDEN songs.
HINT: A song can be "hidden", that is its output will not appear on your HTML, but it will still be accessable in your database, but choosing MODIFY A SONG, selecting the song you wish to Hide, and choosing "HIDE SONG" from the bottom of the form and save your song. The Song is still in your database but will not be visible on your HTML anymore, after you Generate HTML.
Also, when creating or modifying a song, you will also see fields that will enable you to offer the song for sale as a Digital Download. To do this, you need to upload a seperate version of the song file, which is stored in the Digital Vault (see later), and further information such as its price etc. So the vault item would ideally be a high bit rate MP3 (say), and the song upload would be a lower bitrate file, set to streaming only so as to allow potential customers a preview of it. You can also set the price of the vault item to zero so as to offer it as a Promotional item. |
| Creating Messages / Blogs | Messages, or Blogs can be added to your website so as to let visitors know about your band, publist latest news and gossip, copy reviews, etc. etc. To create a message, click on the CREATE MESSAGE button in the User Menu, and you will see a new form that will allow you to add a message to the message database. Put in a title (i.e. "Welcome to my new website"), as well as the MESSAGE TEXT. A quick note about the MESSAGE MORE TEXT field - if you place text in the MESSAGE MORE TEXT field, then a small link that says "Read More..." will be placed at the bottom of the MESSAGE TEXT on the Output HTML linking to the MESSAGE MORE TEXT - this allows you to place the beginning of a long message on your HTML page, and have the "rest of the story" be available if readers are interested in seeing it.
When are finished putting in the text you would like your users to see, click on the "add new message" button and your message will be saved to the message database. |

| Creating Vault Items | Vault Items are either, songs, videos or images that you upload for sales as DIGITAL DOWNLOADS. The files are stored seperately within eJay-Music and are only made available for download to a registered member, or customer, after they have purchased it. Vault items can either be created at the same time as songs, videos or images are created or modified, or seperately by clicking on the CREATE VAULT ITEM button on the left.

| Creating Stations | Stations are 'internet radio station' that you can create to 'webcast' on demand. You select the station type (hifi or lofi, MP3, WMA etc.) and the playlist. You can build a playlist to promote your tracks played randomly, or as the album, or you can select any of the other ejay-music.com users uploaded tracks, by genre, say. |
| Uploading Images | Create image galleries - Upload photos of events, band members, your summer holidays - any JPEG or GIF you like. |
| Fans | Perhaps when visiters see your website here, and have listened to your tracks, they made themselves Your Fans. See who they are here. |
| Inbox | All Users, Bands and Members can send Private Notes to each other. Click on your Inbox to receive your personnel messages, and to send them to your fans. |
| Cart / My Files | This is your Shopping Cart which contains all the Digital Downloads you want to buy from other Bands and Artists, and the download area where they are available after purchase. |
